Introducing The Majestic

Today we’re thrilled to introduce the newest addition to The Scheffer Group family: The Majestic 🥢

For years, the Asheville community has been asking for a New York–style Chinese American restaurant, and owner/chef Eric Scheffer has been thinking about this idea for a long time. The Majestic will be a counter-service restaurant serving the classic Chinese American dishes you know and love, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.

Growing up in Brooklyn and Long Island, Chinatown and Mott Street were a constant part of Eric’s upbringing. The flavors, familiarity, and comfort of those restaurants became the inspiration behind what we’re building now.

To help shape the concept, Eric partnered closely with Chef Ray Hui, Executive Chef of Gan Shan and a first-generation Chinese American. Ray’s lived experience, cultural understanding, and culinary expertise were essential in developing the menu, which reflects a shared commitment to honoring the food and the community it comes from.

Chef Kaya Rehnberg will lead the kitchen as Executive Chef. Kaya has been part of The Scheffer Group for more than three years, most recently as Sous Chef at Gan Shan, and brings over a decade of kitchen experience to the team.

The Majestic is currently under construction at 319 Merrimon Ave and is planned to open in late May.
